To deliver newspapers at your doorstep at 6 in the morning, the distributor has to reach at the distribution office at around 3.30 a. m. He has to reach whether it is winter or summer or monsson. The delivery person gets the newspaper at 3.30 a. m. and count the bundles and then send them to their own offices or at some center points from where he can distribute to delivery persons. At the point, if he has to insert pamphlets in it, he does that. Around 4 a. m., the papers are classified according to areas and then given to various delivery boys who are employees of the distributor. Each delivery boy starts the journey at around 5 a. m. And distributes the newspaper to each house and can cover daily around 300 - 350 houses in 3 hours. Simultaneously, he distributes magazines too if any.







How the distributor earns ? The distributor has two sources of income. One source is from commission which newspapers give. They give around 30 % - 35 % commission. For example, if any newspaper has cost of Rs. 3/-, Rs. 1/- is given to the distributor. Second source is from pamphlets. For inserting 100 pamphlets, he can get from Rs. 15/- to 30/-.



Let us count the profit. Let us assume a distributor has 10,000 customers. He gets Rs. 10,000/- for the day plus pamplets will provide 2000 - 3000 per day. Thus, in a day he gets Rs. 12,000/- per day. That counts to 3,60,000/- per month. Delivery boys salaries are approximate 3,000 per month. If he keeps 30 delivery boy ( counting 1 delivery boy distributes 300 - 350 papers ), the cost comes Rs. 90,000/- per month. Thus, the distributor can earn Rs. 2,70,000/- per month. That comes to Rs. 32,40,000/- per year.


The distributor can earn extra by magazine distribution and retail shop of selling newspapers and library of magazines and newspapers after 9 a. m.. Evening newspapers distribution is another avenue where he can earn extra. If from magazine distribution, library and evening newspaper distribution, we count almost half earning from morning newspaper distribution, he can reach the total figure at around 50,00,000/- per year.
